Summary
The processing team member demonstrates the ability to perform many different tasks when processing meats and observes USDA guidelines in meat handling. He or she is responsible for large volume processing and packaging of meats. The processing team member works under the plant manager to complete many daily tasks. He or She is flexible and able to adapt to many different responsibilities from day to day. The individual cleans work area daily and follows safety instructions.
Job Expectations and Responsibilities
· Receive and follow instructions
· Daily Pre-Op
· Operate food processing equipment
· Ensure that all raw food items received are of good quality and a proper quantity
· Participate in production and packaging of food items
· Prepare processed food in accordance with recipes
· Ensure that food products are processed and prepared by following standards of cleanliness and hygiene
· Perform preventative and general maintenance on food production equipment
· Clean counters and floors to ensure a safe working environment
· Perform duties on the packaging line by loading and adjusting items
· Label packaged food items appropriately
· Receive food items and ensure appropriate storage
· Price packaged and processed items according to standard protocols
· Monitor quality and quantity of food items
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalency degree.
· Meat industry experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Ability to adapt to the ever-changing products and orders while working in a cross-functional team environment.
· Must have the capacity to take initiative when problems arise.
· Flexibility to adapt in a variety of situations.
· Must have advanced attention to detail with the capability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
· Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
· Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills for dealing cross functionally with peers and senior management.
· Knowledge with MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
· Ability to multitask and have excellent organizational skills is essential.
· Must be able to lead, support and contribute to team goals.
· Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates.
· Familiarization with USDA guidelines and regulations as they pertain to a meat processing environment. Understand proper handling, preparation, seasonality, and appropriate shelf life of products.
· Must have basic knowledge of math, weights, and measures.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
· The potential for prolonged standing, walking, squatting and/or bending.
· The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to push/pull fully loaded hand trucks and use box cutters.
· Ability to enter the coolers and freezers thereby being subjected to cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
