A leading legal services firm is seeking a Settlement Coordinator to join their team in New Jersey. This role is pivotal in managing settlement processes and ensuring seamless communication between internal teams and external law firms.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day settlement process in collaboration with the entire settlement team.
- Conduct thorough fact-finding and ensure acute attention to detail in all settlement documentation and communications.
- Communicate internally with the settlements team, paralegals, attorneys, and finance, as well as externally with law firm contacts.
- Ensure consistency and alignment of the master client agreement, internal systems, retainer letters, and distribution percentages as per settlement terms.
- Verify the absence of liens and bankruptcy issues by liaising with appropriate parties.
- Serve as the last point of communication with law firms during the settlement payout process, providing “white glove” client management service.
- Maintain high accuracy and demonstrate proactive communication and problem-solving skills.
- Handle any issues related to settlement client management with professionalism and discretion.
- Experience working within a law firm environment, preferably with accounting exposure specific to law firm settlements.
- Familiarity with master client agreements, retainer letters, and settlement distribution procedures is highly desirable.
- Ability to work onsite in New Jersey 2-3 days per week to collaborate directly with the team and handle tasks requiring physical presence.
