Staff Engineer Software Quality Assurance

Responsibilities : Conduct and lead testing activities on embedded firmware projects within the Smart Meter Systems department. Lead the design, development, and execution of test plans, scripts, and cases. Design and implement test environments and identify and manage issues for development projects. Work on complicated R&D hardware, firmware, software, and complete solutions projects as part of a cross-functional team. Collaborate with Product Management and other R&D teams to design, develop, and validate complete Smart Grid solutions. Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts on component and system design, and communicate with product teams on issues, participating in product design meetings, release planning, and scheduling. Assist all levels of engineers and project managers with design, prototype building, test data set creation, and other testing related activities. Design and coordinate the implementation of Software Quality Assurance test environments. Respond to ad hoc testing issues that arise, and multi-task and prioritize to meet scheduled testing objectives. Write and run complex manual and automation test cases, scripts, and suites, write bug reports, verify bug fixes, and troubleshoot applications. Manage quality assurance initiatives during each scrum sprint, and plan, schedule, and execute assignments for sprint milestones, adjusting priorities during sprint and release phases. Manage resources in the Software Quality Assurance laboratory and ensure test teams work closely with developers and customers. Design and recommend test strategies and write test plans based on a comprehensive understanding of product architecture. Lead and recommend improvements to automation environments, component and solution design, development, documentation, and validation.
Salary : $118,414 / year
Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and five years of experience in software testing. Experience must include five years each of the following : Hardware product testing; Oracle and SQL Databases; Visual Studios, IFS, and Test Manager, Windows 7; .Net; web services testing; Operating Systems such as Linux, Ubuntu, Centos, or Redhat7.x_8.x; Windows Server 2016 / 2019; Wireshark and SoapUl; Windows / Linux based client server architecture; and Agile methodology. Experience must include two years creating test plans, tracking burn down charts, and training junior QA engineers. Experience may be gained concurrently.
