Wellness Manager -LH

Provides leadership to the Wellness Team of Landis Homes (both land-based and aquatic) and coordinates wellness-related educational programs as part of the interdisciplinary team. Works with groups and individuals in Healthcare, Personal Care and Residential Living, developing fitness and educational programs. Maintains the Wellness Center for use by both residents and team members.

  • Works with Wellness and Aquatics Teams to build a campus-wide fitness program that promotes the positive physical, social and psychological benefits of exercise for residents. Works with individuals with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities.
  • Provides leadership to Wellness and Aquatics Team, including managing daily operations, scheduling staff hours and monitoring staff certifications. Works with contracted trainers as appropriate.
  • Designs and leads wellness educational programming.
  • Develops forms and documentation for Wellness Center programing in coordination with the Director of Residential Living and the Director of Compliance, Risk & Quality.
  • Works as part of the interdisciplinary team in all levels of living to achieve person-centered programming for all residents.
  • Works collaboratively with Wellness and Aquatic Teams along with Life Enrichment Team to plan and carry out special events and educational programs that promote exercise, such as Senior Games and the Wellness Fair.
  • Ensures that all required paperwork for land-based fitness is signed by participants and is kept up-to-date.
  • Maintains guidelines for maintenance of exercise equipment and monitors needed follow-up to ensure safety.
  • Assists with the preparation of the annual wellness center's operating budget and capital budgets.
  • Participates in wellness networking with staff of other retirement communities and promotes inter-community interactions.
  • Understands and models the Honoring Lives principles in leadership, relationships and customer service.
  • Supervises, motivates, trains, and defines the organization's standards and communicates effectively with staff using team leadership concepts.
  • Provides and supports growth and development opportunities for team members.
  • Completes One 2 One Conversations with team members in a timely fashion.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, physiology or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in related field or supervisory setting required.
  • Experience working with older adults preferred.
  • Has, or willing to obtain and maintain, CPR certification.
  • Has, or willing to obtain and maintain, Shallow Water Lifeguard certification.
  • Has, or willing to obtain and maintain, Certified Pool Operator certification.
  • Has, or willing to obtain and maintain, Commercial Pesticide License.
  • Demonstrates leadership, management skills, dependability and a positive demeanor.
  • Ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle conflict and lead others with an attitude of servant leadership.
  • Demonstrates ability to balance and manage challenges of a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrates a pleasant personality with flexibility and adaptability for frequent interruptions and schedule variations.
  • Good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Able to work independently, well-organized and can multi-task.
  • Proficient in use of computer and related technology required for the role.
