Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager with a background in construction accounting to manage and oversee our financial operations. This individual will work closely with our Controller and Vice President of Finance to ensure accurate financial reporting, budgeting, cost tracking, and overall financial compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of construction-specific accounting practices and hold a four-year accounting degree or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the day-to-day accounting operations for the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Manage job cost accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of project costs, including labor, materials, and overhead.
- Prepare financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate and collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field personnel to ensure financial aspects of construction projects are accurately tracked and reported.
- Ensure compliance with industry-specific accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and maintain financial records in accordance with company policies.
- Collaborate with auditors during annual audits and other financial reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 3-5 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for experience in construction accounting.
- In-depth knowledge of construction cost accounting, job costing, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Sage, CMiC, or similar systems) is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external clients.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
