Job Title: Body Shop Estimator
Job Overview:
The Body Shop Estimator is responsible for evaluating vehicle damage, estimating repair costs, and managing the repair process from start to finish. The estimator works closely with customers, repair technicians, and insurance companies to ensure a smooth and efficient repair experience while maintaining profitability and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Damage Assessment: Inspect vehicles for visible and hidden damage, taking detailed notes and photographs to create accurate repair estimates.
- Estimate Preparation: Prepare itemized estimates using industry-standard software and provide clear and concise explanations of required repairs.
- Customer Interaction: Meet with customers to discuss the damage, repair process, and cost estimates, addressing any concerns or questions.
- Insurance Liaison: Communicate and collaborate with insurance adjusters to ensure timely approvals and payments for repairs.
- Repair Oversight: Work closely with the repair team to ensure that repairs are completed accurately, on time, and within the estimated costs.
- Quality Control: Ensure that repairs meet both customer and industry standards, conducting final inspections before vehicles are returned to customers.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of estimates, repairs, and communications with customers and insurance companies.
- Customer Satisfaction: Provide excellent customer service by ensuring that the repair process is efficient and that customers are kept informed throughout the process.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require post-secondary education or certifications.
- Experience in automotive repair, estimating, or body shop management.
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Mitchell, CCC, or Audatex).
- Knowledge of automotive repair procedures and terminology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- I-CAR or ASE certification (or equivalent industry certifications).
- Experience in the auto repair or collision repair industry.
- Familiarity with automotive insurance claim processes.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with occasional time spent in the repair shop.
- Full-time position Monday through Friday 8 :00 am - 5:30 pm.
