Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Manager to lead our surveying operations and support
our projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in machine control setup,
model building, and construction layout, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all phases of our
projects. This role will be responsible for managing survey crews, developing and maintaining
digital terrain models (DTMs), and integrating survey data into GPS-guided equipment for site
grading, earthwork, and utility installation.
Key Responsibilities-
Surveying & Field Operations:
• Oversee survey crews and subcontracted support performing construction layout,
topographic surveys, and as-built documentation.
• Ensure precise layout of utilities, roadways, earthwork, and structures in accordance
with project plans.
• Perform field verification and stakeout using total stations, GPS, and other survey
equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve survey discrepancies in coordination with project teams.
Machine Control & Model Building:
• Develop, manage, and refine 3D machine control models for grading and earthwork.
• Set up and calibrate GPS machine control systems for dozers, excavators, and graders.
• Convert CAD drawings, Civil 3D, and BIM files into accurate site models for
construction.
• Collaborate with field personnel, engineers, and project managers to ensure model
accuracy and usability.
Project Coordination & Management:
• Work closely with estimators and project managers during pre-construction to verify
site data.
• Maintain updated as-built records, control points, and project survey data.
• Implement quality control measures to prevent rework and ensure compliance with
design specifications.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and third-party surveyors as needed.
Technology & Equipment Management:
• Maintain Trimble, Topcon, or Leica GPS and total station equipment.
• Train field personnel on surveying best practices and machine control operation.
• Research and implement new survey technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
• 5 years of experience in construction surveying, with at least 2 years in a leadership
role.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation and Trimble Business Center
software.
• Strong understanding of machine control systems and 3D modeling for earthwork and
utilities.
• Experience with RTK GPS, total stations, drones (UAV mapping a plus), and laser
scanning.
• Knowledge of highway, utility, and site development projects preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work in outdoor field conditions.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required but a Plus):
• Certified Survey Technician (CST) Level III or IV
• Trimble Machine Control Certification
• FAA Part 107 UAV Drone License
