JOB DESCRIPTION:

To oversee and perform the day to day environmental cleaning and maintenance functions of

the interior and exterior facility areas, including utilities, equipment, furniture and fixtures and to

assist in maintaining a positive environment in which the residents may live.

ACCOUNTABILITY: Administrator

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Oversee and perform daily floor cleaning and maintenance (to include dry mopping,

wet mopping and buffing) in resident rooms, offices, storage areas, departmental areas,

and common areas, according to established facility protocol.

2. Remove and replace floor finish on tile floors.

3. Oversee cleaning of spills or soiled areas, as directed.

4. Maintain clean storage areas and move furniture, as needed.

5. Perform minor repairs to building and equipment, furniture and fixtures.

6. Maintain proper functioning and adequacy of lighting.

7. Oversee daily functions of housekeeping and laundry staff.

8. Oversee daily functions maintenance services.

9. May be required to flip mattresses on resident beds.

10. Oversee cleaning of the dining room after all meals.

11. Change cubical curtains and drapes as needed.

12. All other duties, as directed by the Administrator

13. Understand and follow the rules and regulations regarding residents’ rights.

14. Prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation in the elderly.

15. Promote a safe, clean environment in which the residents may live.

16. Become a participating facility team member with the residents as first priority.

Hearing: Taking instructions from supervisor

To respond to resident complaints and requests

Sight: For performing job effectively and correctly

Smell: For accurate detection and maintenance of facility odors

SUMMARY OF OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE:

Tasks and procedures performed by the employee involve risks classified by C.D.C. as

Category II. (Activity performed without blood exposure but exposure may occur in the event

of an emergency.)

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to tolerate a high pace as typical for a nursing facility. Must be able to take and

give instructions well and enjoy working with the elderly. Although employee is able to sit,

must also be able to tolerate prolonged standing and walking.
