PS/LS Spanish Teacher
Overview
Ridgefield Academy, a PS–8 independent school in Ridgefield, CT, seeks a full-time Spanish teacher to join our team for the 2025–2026 academic year. This position will teach Spanish to students from Preschool 3s through 3rd Grade and is responsible for creating a language program that supports the learning and development of young students. The ideal candidate is passionate about Spanish language and culture, demonstrates a solid understanding of current language teaching methods, has a student-centered approach, and is eager to integrate technology into classroom instruction.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach Spanish to Preschool (3s) through 3rd Grade.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for early childhood education and a passion for teaching young learners.
- Exhibit proficiency in Spanish instruction and effectively communicate about the cultures of Spanish-speaking nations.
- Employ forward-thinking instructional methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Work collaboratively with other language teachers to develop and coordinate curriculum.
- Identify and implement interdisciplinary opportunities with classroom teachers.
- Foster a student-centered, collaborative classroom environment.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Contribute to school life outside the classroom (e.g., lunch duty, arrival/dismissal, or bus duty).
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a headteacher of preschool or lower school students
- Bachelor’s or graduate-level degree in Spanish or Education.
- Demonstrated expertise in current teaching methodologies and best practices for young learners.
Position Details
- 10-month salaried position with comprehensive benefits.
- Salary range: $55,000–$68,000, commensurate with experience.
- Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM.
