Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Landscaping Crew Leader to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the installation of various landscape installation projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for outdoor work, and a comprehensive understanding of landscaping construction practices.
Responsibilities
- Execute the installation of landscape construction projects ensuring completion within project deadlines and in accordance with project blueprints/structural drawings/specifications
- Coordinate with the Landscape Construction Foreman/Supervisor for the organization of project labor requirements, equipment requirements, and all necessary materials, including material deliveries
- Lead the day-to-day work activities of a landscape construction crew of 2 to 4 employees
- Manage safety, quality, and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard
- Assist in the preparation of job sites prior to the beginning of a project
- Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members to assist in the completion of landscape construction projects
- Operate various tools and equipment, including, but not limited to: truck & trailer, heavy equipment, chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning as indicated by manufacturer, or instructed by supervisor
- Complete and submit all required reporting on a daily basis including: site photos, daily progress reports, attendance tracking, time and materials billing summaries, requests for time off, etc.
- Comply with all company policies and regulations
- Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas
- Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
- Enforce and work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations at shop/yard and on jobsites
- Meet and/or communicate with customers – always in a polite and courteous manner – before, during, and/or after project completion to clarify project expectations, review progress, discuss concerns, recommend changes, and add-ons
- Remain continuously on-call for snow/ice removal beginning each November and continuing through the month of March, including nights, weekends & holidays, and shall report for duty within one hour of a qualifying snow or ice event. Snow removal work includes a pay premium of an additional $7.50/hr.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Speak, read, and write English
- Valid driver’s license (Class A CDL preferred) & insurance in good standing
- Willing to obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months of employment start date
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the landscape/construction industry
- Ability to perform frequent bending, twisting, kneeling & squatting and able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs; Excellent stamina is required
- Basic measurement and calculation skills
- Ability to read, interpret & execute blueprints and specifications
- Effective communication (both verbal and written) & time management skills
- Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
- Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools, and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction projects
- Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
- Strict adherence to safety protocols, including but not limited to the consistent use of personal protective equipment, and company procedures
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour
