What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Field Operations Supervisor position at Landmark?
Maintenance Field Operations Supervisor
For over 10 years, Landmark has been transforming outdoor spaces across the Greater Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area. Locally owned and operated, we specialize in design-build projects and comprehensive property maintenance, crafting distinctive and lasting outdoor spaces for our clients.
As a growing company, we’re looking for an experienced professional to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our maintenance services in the role of Maintenance Field Operations Supervisor. This position is critical to Landmark’s mission of delivering exceptional landscape and maintenance services. We seek a professional who can blend technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to client satisfaction, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Maintenance Field Operations Supervisor serves as the linchpin of our maintenance service teams, with responsibilities spanning team leadership, operational management, and client relations. At the core of this position is the ability to effectively coordinate and oversee turf maintenance, landscape maintenance, and snow management services, ensuring high-quality service delivery and team performance.
Team Leadership and Development
Supervision extends beyond scheduling and monitoring. The ideal candidate will actively develop team capabilities by training personnel on turf maintenance techniques, establishing performance improvement strategies, and addressing professional growth opportunities. This involves hands-on leadership, including performance management, attendance monitoring, and creating a culture of continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence
Managing field operations requires a strategic approach to resource allocation. The supervisor will coordinate labor, equipment, and material resources across multiple service lines. This includes facilitating clear communication between work crews and the office, ensuring precise schedule management, and maintaining comprehensive daily reporting and documentation.
Quality Assurance and Client Management
Quality is paramount in our service delivery. The supervisor will conduct thorough quality assurance inspections, ensure strict compliance with safety standards, and manage client expectations. This role involves direct client communication, addressing service inquiries, and identifying opportunities for service expansion.
Technical and Equipment Management
While primarily a supervisory role, the position requires technical proficiency. The supervisor must be prepared to operate and maintain professional maintenance equipment. In instances where specialized services like fertilizer and pesticide applications are required and no other qualified personnel are available, the supervisor may be called upon to perform these tasks.
Business Development
Beyond day-to-day operations, the role contributes to the company's growth. This includes providing sales support, maintaining and expanding client relationships, and participating in internal and client meetings to align service strategies.
REQUIREMENTS
To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:
- Minimum 2 years experience in turf and landscape maintenance
- Iowa Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification (Category 3OT)
- Valid driver's license
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in equipment operation and maintenance
- Strong physical fitness and ability to work in various outdoor conditions
