Landmarks for Families is a 501(c)(3) organization that serves families seeking support, families in crisis, and children experiencing homelessness or who are victims of physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and abandonment. We strive to deliver family education, preservation, residential and reunification services that teach, heal, strengthen, and empower more than 900 children and families annually.

OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
As a member of the Landmarks for Families development team, the Manager of Communications and Events is accountable for developing and implementing an effective plan for communicating with and engaging volunteers, donors, and stakeholders, promoting the organization within the community, and planning and executing Landmarks for Families' annual events.
The Manager of Communications and Events will be responsible for the acquisition of sponsors and auction items for special events, managing volunteers needed to support events, and participating in other marketing and promotional opportunities that increase agency visibility, generate community support and support department and organization goals and objectives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. In conjunction with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team, and Development Team, the Manager of Communications and Events will create an annual communications and marketing plan designed to support Landmarks for Families' annual, strategic and department goals. Research and recommend a budget that includes projected sources and amounts of revenue and associated expenses. Provide monthly reports regarding progress toward budgeted goals.

2. Responsible for all marketing and communication efforts to include distribution of regularly scheduled e-newsletters, social media posts, blogs, and annual reports, website updates, design of brochures and promotional materials, search engine optimization, press releases, and exposure to other media outlets when appropriate. The Manager of Communications and Events will create and enforce the consistency and standards of all Landmarks for Families-related publications and designs.
3. Plan and execute annual events to include Landmarks for Families' "Night for the Children" gala, golf tournament, color run 5K, Changemaker's Breakfast, and other donor or volunteer recruitment activities as agreed upon in annual and department plans.

4. Serve as staff liaison to committees and/or advisory committees as assigned and related to communications, marketing, and events. Prepare an agenda for each meeting and ensure that minutes of each meeting are recorded and reflect attendance, goals, accomplishments, obstacles, achievements, and decisions.
5. Ensure information in Raiser's Edge is accurate and up to date for assigned constituents. Prepare and present reports to board members, donors and other stakeholders as needed.

Contacts: Extensive contact with the community with specific focus on individual and corporate donors, the media, Board members and volunteers. Has contact with all levels of staff within the organization.
Decision Making Authority: Must be able to make effective decisions regarding strategies for increasing donor support of the agency.
Functional Knowledge: Knowledge of fund raising and marketing strategies. Proficient in the use of Raiser's Edge, Canva, Microsoft office suite, and general computer skills. Ability to write successful proposals, solicitations, appeals and reports. Knowledge of budget development and effective management techniques a plus.
Education and Specific Training: Minimum of bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related field. Prefer individual with extensive course work/seminar training in fund raising.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in marketing, communications, volunteer engagement, or fundraising with at least 1 year of supervisory/management experience.
Responsibility Level: Manager level position.
Supervisory Responsibility: Development staff, volunteers or interns as assigned.
