Landrum ENT seeks a cheerful, compassionate, and caring Allergy Nurse to join the team. The ideal candidate is mature, service-oriented, has excellent communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- RN or LPN degree and licensure, or completing training in the next three months
- Training in allergy a plus, but not required
- Two years of experience working in a physician's office strongly preferred
- Neat, professional appearance
- Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
- Strong attention to detail
- Type 40 WPM (accurate and fast data entry skills)
- Experience with an Electronic Health Record
Key Responsibilities
- Performs all allergy tests as directed by physician
- Prepares antigen vials as required, according to treatment plans designed by physician
- Maintains vials for patients and/or sends out vials as required
- Administers allergy injections as directed by physician treatment plan; records in patient chart and creates patient’s encounter form at the conclusion of each service performed
- Performs patient education duties related to their allergy treatment program
- Maintains patient allergy treatment records and files
- Follows office protocol for Epi-pens, waiting after injection, and anaphylactic reactions
- Ensures Allergy Department compliance with OSHA regulations and other safety requirements; this includes disposal of used sharps and contaminated materials, as well as safe storage of medications
- Re-orders Allergy Department supplies as required and within the purchasing budget
- Maintains instruments and equipment; ensures all are sterilized, arranged, and ready for use
