Description
Landry/French is actively seeking an experienced Cost Estimator with a minimum of 5 years of experience in related position. The individual will be responsible for a wide range of activities that support field operations with direct reporting to VP of Preconstruction. Can-do attitude, professional appearance, and the ability to multi-task.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but are not limited to including:
Bid Administration
- Prepare and maintain status of plan reproduction.
- Solicit and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring proper coverage.
- Complete detailed material take–offs.
- Read and understand project specifications.
- Prepare subcontractor bid packages.
- Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors.
- Show creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractors.
- Submit 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline.
- Enter all relevant information into the estimating software program.
Project Knowledge
- Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions.
- Have thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades.
- Develop RFI's and clarifications, follow through with communications so that all applicable parties have timely and accurate design/project information.
- Perform a comprehensive "bid day" analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades.
- Understand how to fit subs to the size/scope of project.
- Create bid lists that fit the scope of job, ensuring the right subs for the project.
- Minimize exclusions.
- Develop value-engineering ideas on every bid.
Project Turnover
- Properly turn over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management in a timely manner. Goal is 100% of awarded projects turned over within 24 hours of notification.
- Review drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern.
- Review job cost with Project Management team and highlight any subs/material vendors that still need to be awarded.
- Complete project kick-off form to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 5 Years’ estimating experience
- Able to assemble detailed and accurate cost estimates with varying levels of information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to effectively interface with clients
- Work effectively as an individual and as an integral part of a team
- Ability to multi-task
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.)
- Proficient in Construction Estimating Software programs
- Degree in Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
