Safety Manager Job Description LDI/ELM/EAM
The Safety Manager is a key part of the management team of our growing organization.
This position provides safety, risk management and training support relating to the landscape maintenance, construction, and arborist divisions of the company. The area covered by this position currently entails Sacramento County and Fresno County. Other regions may be added at a future time. It is intended that this position primarily operates in the field and some travel will be required including occasional overnight stays. Areas of responsibility include risk management, employee training and safety inspections.
This position is expected to fill the role as being the subject matter expert in safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Preparation, implementation, and administration of company safety goals and initiatives
- The Safety Manager will work under the supervision of the Corporate Safety Director.
- Work closely with senior and branch management staff to ensure personnel is following safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
- Keeps records of the recommendations made for correcting unsafe conditions and necessary safety training Organizes safety coaching initiatives such as safety, pesticide, first aid, CPR, job hazard analysis, daily safety planning, and incident investigations
- Schedules and runs safety meetings, coordinate with branch management and field staff
- Ensure all new employees complete new hire safety orientation and training
- Ensure tracking of field crews’ weekly safety lessons and daily safety planning
- Tracking of safety violation forms
- Keeps management team informed of incidents or near misses
- Ensure worker safety training, demonstrations and hands-on instruction is completed on a regular basis
- Review accidents and suggest corrective measures to prevent future incidents
- Evaluate risks and hazards and suggest for corrective action
- Be familiar with new industry trends and incorporate into safety/training systems
- Other related tasks as directed by senior management
Qualifications:
- Preferably 5 years of supervisory experience in managing safety and training for a construction/landscape/arborist company.
- Must be fluent in English and Spanish – written and verbal forms
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards, accident/incident prevention, and risk management
- Computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Great interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively relate to employees at all levels of the organization. Discretion and trustworthiness in dealing with sensitive material
- Professional, friendly, and approachable personality
- Self-starter, ability to effectively manage time and the demands of a fast-paced environment.
- Possess safety certifications such as OSHA 30, CPR/first aid trainer, etc.
- OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid certifications (Preferred)
- Spanish (Required)
Experience:
- Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint: 1 year (Required)
- Local, State, and Federal safety regulations and standards: 1 year (Required)
- Supervisory in Managing Safety Training for Construction Co.: 5 years (Preferred)

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
