What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Nursery Specialist position at Landscape Hawaii Inc.?
Our nursery is located in Waimanalo and the position is great position for adding experience to your resume. At our nursery, you will be able to learn the skills necessary to care for plants throughout their lifecycle. The position’s duties covers all aspects of nursery work from propagation to the eventual sale of our inventory to clients. Our nursery staff is continually trained to improve their hard-skills including the preparation of cuttings and seedlings for up-potting into larger homes, blending soil mediums for a variety of plants, selecting the proper fertilizer, pruning techniques, watering, pest and disease identification. Essentially you will be equipped with the overall skillset required in the maintenance of the plants that we have in stock. We offer excellent hands-on experience to provide you real world knowledge of our industry.
Qualifications:
- Driver's license preferred (not required)
- U.S. Work Authorization (requied)
- Ability to operate equipment preferred (not required)
- Ability to drive a golf cart preferred (not required)

Job Requirements:
- Requires frequent lifting at least 25 lbs. unassisted, to load and unload plants, equipment and supplies from the shop, job site and vehicles.
- Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling and moving equipment on a daily basis.
- Requires frequent exposure to sunlight, dust, dirt and muddy conditions.
- Requires use of various pesticides, fertilizers and slug baits.
- Requires standing and walking for approximately 6 to 8 hours per work day.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Pole pruners, hand pruners, shovels, picks, rakes, dust pans, hand and push spreaders, backpack sprayers and various other miscellaneous manual hand tools.
WORK HOURS:
6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. with paid 15-minute break in a.m. and 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Monday-Friday and/ or as needed for Saturdays
Landscape Hawaii Inc. operates under a drug-free work environment, you will be required to take a pre-employment drug screening and will be subject to random drug tests.

Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
