Lane Animal Hospital, the oldest veterinary hospital in Washtenaw County, is searching for friendly, hard-working, committed, and energetic Pet Boarding Assistant to join our team for the spring season and potentially beyond!!
Boarding team hours are 7am-12pm every morning and either 4-7pm or 2-6pm in the evenings.
Our Pet Boarding Assistants are essential to providing the love and thoughtful care pet parents expect when entrusting us to care for their pets while they are away. Our staff is integral to the success of our hospital and we continually look to them for ideas for growth and improvement.
This position is a great starting position if you want to learn the ins and outs of working in the veterinary field. Compensation aligns with this, however those that have kennel experience will be offered compensation based on that experience!

Required skills:
- High School graduate (required)
- Availability weekends and holidays are a must, as we offer boarding 365 days a year.
- Share a commitment to delivering the highest quality care for our boarding patients with exceptional client service.

- Strong interpersonal skills: able to communicate effectively with clients, doctors, management, hospital personnel, and clients.
- Strong organizational/time management skills: able to set, prioritize and attain goals with attention to detail while maintaining composure in a fast paced environment.
- Strong sense of integrity: able to maintain highest ethical standards, personal responsibility and accountability and confidentiality of clients, doctors, and all staff.
- Strong analytical thinking skills: ability to use objective data to solve problems/create solutions.
- Confidence handling animals and understanding of their physical and emotional needs –including giving medications when prescribed.
- A desire to work with wonderful animals and their pet parents, ensuring the best care for them.
- Providing care for animals in our boarding and daycare including feeding, walks outside, administering medications, playtime and exercise in our indoor playroom, and alerting our medical team to any concerns.
