Job Title:	Instructor Pool - Construction Technology
Applicant Notification:	Search Information Our Business, Technology, and Trades Department is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach Construction Technology. Beyond the required education and experience instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning. This is an application pool posting for 2024-2025.The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College's main campus located in Eugene, Oregon. Working Schedule:	Possible teaching assignments throughout the year depending upon qualifications and available assignments (Varies by term). Substitute Instructors work, on an as-needed basis, to provide support to students when the teacher of record is unavailable. Classes are assigned by the Division Dean based on need, enrollment, and availability of contracted and/or senior part-time faculty. The part-time teaching schedule is determined by the Dean.

Position Purpose:	Faculty members are professional educators with the primary responsibilities of providing instruction and academic student support services respectfully, equitably, and inclusively to a diverse, multicultural, and multilingual student population, and professional activities contributing to the college, in alignment with Lane's Vision, Mission, and Values. This position performs the duties of an educator and college instructor including: instruction of college courses in multiple modalities as assigned, which may include both in-person and online environments; curriculum development and course design; outcomes assessment and program review; mentoring students; professional development; participation in discipline leadership, division and college business; and other professional duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:	Instruction: Plan, write, and administer Construction curricula to include instruction in varied learning environments, such as in-person, online, remote, and hybrid formats: Blueprint Reading I & 2 Construction Orientation and Environment Construction Estimating Building Construction Building Construction Surveying Construction Codes Sustainable Building Practices Support student learning through activities that include: Deliver assigned classes using pedagogy and technology that best support student learning, and in accordance with course objectives and program learning outcomes. Develop and maintain curriculum and supporting course materials in keeping with and furtherance of course objectives and program learning outcomes. Post student attendance, grades, and course syllabus in accordance with college timelines. Manage a classroom environment conducive to student learning and in adherence to federal, state, and college safety standards and practices. Facilitate student achievement of expected program learning outcomes. Use a Learning Management System (e.g. Moodle) to facilitate teaching, learning, assessment, and communication. Set up and prepare class/lab materials before the start of class to ensure timeliness and student success in the classroom and the lab spaces. Engage students outside of class in support of the curriculum and co-curriculum. Provide timely and meaningful feedback to students regarding the mastery of course and program learning outcomes. Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students. Other duties as assigned. Retention and Student Success: Provide academic-related coaching and academic monitoring to assigned students in partnership with professional academic advising staff. Monitor and document student performance throughout the term, including use of technology for academic advising alerts; provide necessary interventions to include communication with students, tutoring and other academic supports, and referrals to appropriate college resources. Maintain and post office hours in alignment with College expectations. Participate meaningfully in student retention and completion initiatives. Promote and assist in student recruitment, retention, and successful completion of programs, including outreach to students by phone, technology tools, and other electronic means. Professional Development: Participate in professional development activities that may include scheduled training, time spent on site in related business and industries, and self-study to advance instructional and technical skills as well as current knowledge within the field of study. Participate in scholarly activities related to the discipline/focus, in fulfillment of annual performance plans, and as required for certification and license. Stay current in contemporary pedagogy, digital technology, and other technology-related to teaching that best support student learning. Adhere to the OSHA standards. Community Outreach and Business Relations: Participate in community service activities on behalf of the college to advance the college's relationships within its service area as appropriate for department/division/college. Develop community/industry/business contacts to advance college relationships within the program area as appropriate in the department and division. Invite and include local businesses to connect and serve on the Construction Advisory Committee. Adapt and conform to local industry advisory committee expectations of program proficiencies. Attend and participate in regular Advisory Committee meetings, Hands-On Career Day, and other outreach and recruitment activities. Instructional Support: Participate in committees, projects related to college and program accreditation, and grant-related projects. Support and engage with the Lane Community College Foundation. Attend commencement and participate in other student support activities. Participate in college/regional/campus-wide meetings and departmental/division/faculty meetings.
