Salary/Compensation Statement:
  • Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $50,570 – $74,162.
  • New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years’ relevant experience and education.
  • Lane’s robust Benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental and vision insurance, basic term life insurance, long term disability, vacation leave, personal time and paid sick leave.
  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Working Schedule:
  • Full-time position with variable work hours based upon department needs.
  • Standard work week is 40 hours, typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Evening and weekend hours may occasionally be required based on performance schedules.
  • Scheduling flexibility will be discussed and agreed upon with the department manager.

Required QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education:
A Bachelor’s Degree with coursework or training in the Performing Arts, production technology, or the various arts, crafts, trades and processes employed in the position.

Required Experience:
Three (3) years of full-time technical production experience with skill in carpentry/construction, lighting design, operation of lighting and sound systems.

  • Master’s Degree (MA/MFA) in Theatrical Design, Production or Technology or other closely related terminal degree
  • Certification in OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry Training, or other Construction training

Position Purpose:
The Technical/Stage Coordinator manages and maintains the performance facilities at LCC and is responsible for scheduling all productions and events held in LCC’s two performance spaces. Key responsibilities include set or scene construction, lighting design, production management, technical direction, facility maintenance, student supervision, and budget management.

Essential Functions:
Office & Design:
  • Responsible for scenic, lighting, projection and sound designs as needed, using CAD software for drawing/drafting plans.
  • Create and layout the yearly production calendar in consultation with department producers and community renters; coordinate, organize and balance daily schedules of the Performing Arts facilities and special facility projects; schedule HVAC and building unlocks for rehearsals and productions.
  • Organize and facilitate the extensive rental productions’ schedule, including communication, scheduling, management, set up/restoration, staffing, billing and implementing 20 rentals per year.
  • Monitor and control expenditures under the supervision of the division manager; estimate the amount and kind of materials used to construct scenery; develop accurate budgets; material procurement.
  • Strong computer skills including working with documents, spreadsheets and email; video, image and audio editing; coordinating with the division chair.


Construction & Facility Maintenance:
  • Constructing, assembling, painting, rigging, shifting, and fabricating scenery according to plan.
  • Run safety checks of production elements and scenery during the run of a production.
  • Supervise the deconstruction of a production and maintain the safety of all personnel involved.
  • Complete required work within the set budget.
  • Safe operation, organization and maintenance of all stage and shop equipment/systems.
  • Maintaining the scene shop and two performance spaces including lighting, sound and rigging equipment, curtains, orchestra pit, booths, seating, properties, communication systems, furniture and set components.
  • Perform safety inspections of the building and repair, and/or work with campus groups to resolve issues.
  • Maintain safe working conditions in the scene shop, stages and other areas including classrooms and studios; minor electrical and electronic work.

Production Management & Operation:
  • Direct and oversee all technical aspects for two plays, two dance concerts and thirteen music concerts per year; implementing lighting, projection, scenery and sound designs, setting up and operating lighting, rigging, projection, show control and sound systems for productions and other events (e.g. lectures, meetings, workshops) held in the Performing Arts building.
  • Works closely with college faculty and staff for the betterment of productions and departments.
  • Responsible, with the director, producer or choreographer, for the overall organization and smooth operation of the technical production process.
  • Attend meetings, technical rehearsals and production dates as needed.
  • Working effectively and in collaboration with diverse members of the production team.
  • Using Show Control software for networking and automating production systems.

Students:
  • Coordinates and leads the work of student assistants including: work assignment, setting priorities, training and monitoring performance and is available to answer questions or troubleshoot problems on a daily basis.
  • Recruit and train students and volunteers operating equipment for productions.
  • Oversee timesheets of Work-Study students.
  • Schedule and supervise student crews and workers.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:
Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Dean of Arts. Work is performed independently according to professional practices in cooperation and collaboration with the production team of any given event. Work performance is reviewed by talking to other members of production teams, visual appearance of stage sets and lighting and effectiveness of sound systems.

This position coordinates and leads the work of student assistants and volunteers. This position plans work, assigns tasks, provides priorities, trains and is available to answer questions or troubleshoot problems on a daily basis.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
Ability to lift, move, shift, and carry scenery, lighting instruments, stage properties, draperies, and other stage equipment (up to 50 pounds). Requires physical strength, agility, and stamina. Work Safely.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in computer software (CAD, video/audio editing, etc.).
  • Mastery of stagecraft principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of carpentry/construction methods used in stage production.
  • Skilled with stage lighting, sound and rigging equipment.
  • Ability to setup and operate Production Operations.
  • Ability to read, interpret and create technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety protocols.
  • Ability to train and managing the work of students.
  • Ensure the safe and proper operation, organization, and maintenance of all stage and shop equipment and systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment in the stage, scene shop, and related areas on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Provide support to employees working to meet accreditation standards through evaluation and assessment of student outcomes.
