Salary/Compensation Statement:
- Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $39,427 – $57,821. (The per-hour rate will be applied to an annualized salary, based on an approximate FTE of .80, paid semi-monthly over a 10-month period.)
- New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years’ relevant experience and education.
- Lane’s robust Benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental and vision insurance, basic term life insurance, long term disability, vacation leave, personal time and paid sick leave.
- Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions regarding your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or to the US Department of Education.

Required QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education:
- One (1) year of post-secondary education with course work in counseling, human resources, psychology or a related field.
OR
- One (1) year of education in coaching, advising, or serving in an academic internship role that provides services directly to students via case management.
Required Experience:
Two (2) years of related experience in case management, academic advising, or student services with any age and academic experience, and/or multicultural learners is required.

Preferred Education

Position Purpose:
To provide specialized academic advising according to the students’ eligibility parameters in their TRIO program application, to retain, graduate, and/or transfer a diverse group of program participants (first generation college students, low-income students, and students with disabilities).
Essential Functions:
Academic Advising and Student Success
- Provide academic advising that facilitates student success using one-on-one and group sessions, that goes beyond the scope of Lane Academic Advising.
- Advise students on educational and career goals that specifically considers their TRIO eligibility.
- Provide personal support and problem-solving for students who have concerns about attending college and/or navigating the college systems.
- Provide timely information to students regarding college policies and procedures, degree and program requirements and available student resources.
- Coordinate student enrichment activities.
- Coordinate and/or conduct student workshops on academic success strategies.
- Assist students with registration and financial aid processes through one-on-one and group sessions.
- Coordinate orientation for students entering the TRiO using individual or group presentations.
- Coordinate student intake processes and set up individual academic support plans for students entering the TRiO program.
- Refer students with academic and/or related college problems to appropriate campus resources.
- Assist students with their transfer plans to 4-year programs using one-on-one and group sessions.
- Refer students in crisis to campus and community resources.
- Build and maintain relationships with students that support student success and academic progress.
- Maintain appropriate and timely written documentation for accurate record-keeping.
- Develop and maintain online information resources for students.
- Program and project development that targets empowering TRIO participants, which may entail trips, webinars, workshops, collaborations or events and event planning.
Collaboration
- Participate in department and college-wide activities and training, and when appropriate, regional meetings.
- Collaborate with TRiO faculty, staff and students to develop and implement an effective transfer mentor program.
- Participate on assigned college and community committees and be an effective member of the TRiO and counseling department teams.
- Develop and maintain ongoing positive relationships with a diverse group of participants, which encourage and facilitate program participation and academic success. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with appropriate student services and academic staff.
- Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement:
Reports to and works under the general supervision of the TRiO Program Director. Work is performed independently using specialized experience and training. Work is reviewed for the quality of information, assistance, and documentation provided.

Physical Demands/Working Environment:
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Work safely.
