What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Attorney position at Lane Council of Governments?
Responsibilities:
This position provides professional general legal services for LCOG and LCOG clients. Prepares legal documents, renders legal opinions, and represents LCOG and LCOG clients in civil proceedings. Serves as a hearings official on land use matters and other administrative matters for local and state agencies. Does related work as required, including but not limited to land use, telecommunications law, contracting, risk management, public sector labor law, and general issues related to Oregon municipal and public sector law.
Qualifications:
Minimum
- Graduation from an accredited law school
- Significant and progressively responsible experience in public sector/municipal law.
- Any combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the job.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Oregon.
Preferred
- Five years of experience with land use, tax law, telecommunications, contracting, risk management, and/or public sector labor law.
