About this PositionThe Technical Specialist is a broad classification that encompasses incumbents performing a variety of technical and specialized functions in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of public works programs such as roads, bridges, traffic management, street lighting, surveying and environmental resources. Specific duties will vary in accordance with assigned area of responsibility.Engineering - Responsibilities for those with engineering related assignments will generally include: assisting with the survey, design and construction of public improvements; collecting and researching data; computer aided drafting; construction inspection; materials testing; managing traffic; and preparing reports.About the DivisionENGINEERING & CONSTRUCTION SERVICES - SURVEY: The County Surveyor’s Office is located within the Engineering & Construction Services Division of Lane County Public Works. The Surveyor’s Office provides property and road information support for individuals, landowners, consultants and government entities seeking survey information and documentation in Lane County. The Office also processes and reviews Land Survey/Plat related submissions for recording and filing from private and public Land Surveyors practicing in Lane County.Schedule: Typical hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or as otherwise approved.*This is an Admin Prof Org of Lane County represented position*

Training and Experience: Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate; and sufficient experience as necessitated by the competency level of the position. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.Journey Level: 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience related to area of assignment. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.Studies have shown that women and BIPOC individuals are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they are able to perform every task in the job description.
