Teacher, Migrant Education - Summer School Program (temporary positions)
TITLE: Teacher, Migrant Education, Elementary
Salary: $36.04 per hour
Start Date: Late June/Early July depending on location
Calendar: Temporary 23 day position, including classroom setup and orientation days. Monday through Friday.
POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of the position is to deliver direct instruction to assigned students in accordance with identified curricular guidelines and/or established Migrant Education requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Establish measurable and realistic instructional goals.
2. Plan and present coherent instruction that is adapted to the learning abilities of each student.
3. Create a classroom environment of respect and rapport, establish a culture for learning, and manage student behavior equitable and fairly.
4. Frequently assess student performance and maintain accurate records.
5. Communicate regularly with students and families regarding student performance.
6. Be a supportive and cooperative member of the staff.
7. Maintain a professional demeanor when representing the District.
8. Maintain current knowledge and skills for all disciplines taught.
9. Determine the skills and abilities of assigned support personnel and delegate duties to provide the most effective learning opportunities for students.
10. Utilize appropriate equipment and software as established for agency use as well as other equipment and software appropriate to the assignment.
11. Perform program responsibilities in accordance with statutes, administrative rules, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
12. Attend staff meetings as requested.
13. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Oregon K-8 Teaching license is required.
2. An endorsement in ESOL or Bilingual education is preferred.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of both federal and state Migrant Education requirements as well as current best practices in the field is essential.
4. Prior experience in a similar Migrant Education program is preferred.
About Lane ESD’s Migrant Education Program
Lane ESD Migrant Education Program (MEP) provides Title IC administration, identification and services for 29 school districts in Lane and Douglas counties.
Title IC funds support high quality education programs for migratory children and help ensure that migratory children who move among the states are not penalized in any manner by disparities among states curriculum, graduation requirements, or state academic content and student academic achievement. MEP services include: 24 hour accident insurance, parent involvement and meetings, referrals to community resources, academic support, college and career transition classes, pre-school support, and summer school.
