- Oregon schools have been directed by the Governor under OAR 333-019-1030 to ensure that school teachers, staff and volunteers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. "Fully vaccinated" is defined as 14 days after receiving all required doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine (currently two shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or one shot of Johnson & Johnson vaccine). Under this rule employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Exemptions may be made only for eligible medical or religious reasons.
- Establish and maintain nursing and school health records for students in accordance with state statute, rule or practice.
- Plan and implement health screenings.
- Assess student health needs, including the preparation of student health protocols.
- Delegate/assign, train, and monitor school staff or volunteers in identified nursing tasks to meet the health needs of students.
- Support the development, maintenance, and implementation of district Comprehensive Communicable Disease Management Plans to respond to outbreaks of communicable disease.
- Serve as a member of IEP or Child Study Team, as requested to assist in meeting the health needs of special education or Section 504 eligible students; develop Health Management Plans as needed.
- Act as a liaison between school and medical providers as needed in order to make recommendations regarding the nature, scope and intensity of services to be provided in the school setting.
- Act as a liaison between assigned school district(s), and local/state health and safety organizations and maintain knowledge of community resources.
- Perform program responsibilities in accordance with statutes, administrative rules, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Attend staff meetings as requested.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
- Valid Oregon license to practice as a Registered Nurse; TSPC School Nurse License preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or health related field preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete training for Medication Administration Training for Emergency Glucagon Providers (ORS 339.867-870) and Treatment of Severe Allergic Reaction (ORS 433.800-830) required.
- Two years nursing experience required, with experience in clinical nursing setting preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse students, staff and community populations. Demonstrated successful experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including students with special needs.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) in a wide variety of settings.
- Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish preferred.
- Ability to meet the physical and mental requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Valid Oregon driver’s license required.
- Effectively engage with individuals from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean, and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
- Utilize appropriate equipment and software as established for agency use as well as other equipment and software appropriate to the assignment.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Confer regularly with immediate supervisor.
