The National Specifications Engineer position will represent Lane with federal, state, and local agencies along with the engineering community for the approval and acceptance of Lane products. This role is an "in office" position.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Maintain product approvals with Federal, State and Local agencies
• Coordinate and facilitate product listings with approval agencies
• Provide technical support for regulatory reviews and audits, ensuring all materials and practices comply with DOT codes and environmental guidelines.
• Review and interpret DOT specifications and standards for materials and work with project teams to ensure compliance.
• Support the quality department in assisting writing quality programs.
• Represent company interests in AASHTO and ASTM
• Represent company interests in industry associations
• Guide efforts to enhance product usage through specifications.
• In conjunction with the quality department, coordinate and implement material testing procedures, field testing, and material inspections, to ensure all materials meet regulatory quality standards. Assist quality in preparing documentation and reports for compliance reviews with agencies. Manage third-party testing certifications that validate manufactured products to meet the various AASHTO and ASTM material and performance requirements.
• Stay updated on DOT and other relevant local, state, and federal regulations related to Lane products.
• Assist in the development of cost-effective, sustainable, and durable material solutions for projects.
• Manages third-party testing certifications that validate manufactured products to meet the various AASHTO and ASTM material and performance requirements.
• Supports the development of brochures and other technical materials that promote Lane products and their appropriate use.
• Develop and perform educational and instructional presentations for professional development of product training purposes.
Requirements:• In-depth knowledge of DOT specifications, standards (such as ASTM, AASHTO, NTPEP, etc.
• Understand material selection, testing, and evaluation for Lane projects, ensuring compliance with DOT standards and regulations.
• Understand material testing techniques and laboratory procedures, including advanced testing equipment.
• Familiarity with DOT pre-qualification processes, material certification, and regulatory reporting.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and make decisions based on material performance and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical reports and presentations.
• Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordination with cross functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or higher is a plus.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering with a focus on transportation or infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with DOT regulations and standards is highly preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification in materials engineering is preferred but not required.
• Certification or training in DOT-related compliance, testing standards, or construction materials is a plus.
• Office and field-based work environments.
• Travel will be required to project sites, testing labs, or client meetings.
