What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paving Operator position at Laney Companies?
PAVING OPERATOR
The ideal candidate will be a team player who is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and desires to be part of a skilled construction team.
The Paver Operator is responsible for the operation of spreading and leveling asphalt material at the correct width and depth onto parking lots, driveways, and roadways.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manipulate hand and/or foot controls including pedals, levers, and buttons to regulate speed and direction of assigned equipment
- Operate assigned equipment in compliance with the company's operating safety policies and procedures
- Follow all equipment monitoring and maintenance requirements.
- Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
- Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing regular checks on their functionality
- Report needed repairs to appropriate parties
- Other duties as assigned
- Ability to understand verbal orders
- Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards
- Must comply with municipality requirements, specifications, safety standards, and company policies
- Keen attention to detail and awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment
- Ability to work well with others
- Reliable transportation
SALARY/HOURLY EXEMPTION:
- Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position
- Salary based on knowledge and experience
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that can include extreme cold, and heat conditions
- The work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required
WORKING HOURS/EXPECTATIONS:
- Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week, including weekend assignments as required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
- While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch on all different types of terrain.
- Frequent bending, twisting, and standing
- The employee is also regularly required to talk, hear, smell, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on occasions
- Must be able to sit for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to pass a Drug Screen
EDUCATION:
- High school or equivalent is preferred
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid Driver License preferred
NON-ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 1-year operating paving equipment experience
