What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lang Masonry SPD - Brick/Block Mason position at Lang Masonry SPD?
Work year round, residential and small commercial masonry jobs in Columbus, Ohio.
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Brick/Block Mason lays building materials, such as brick, concrete block, stone, glass block, and terra-cotta block to construct high-quality walls and other structures in residential and small commercial masonry.
ROUTINE DUTIES:
- Construct corners by fastening in a plumb position a corner pole or building a corner pyramid of bricks, ensuring accuracy and stability.
- Measure distance from reference points and mark guidelines to lay out work, using plumb bobs, rules, and levels.
- Break or cut bricks, tiles, or blocks to size, using trowel edge, hammer, or power saw.
- Remove excess mortar with trowels and hand tools, and finish mortar joints with jointing tools, for a sealed, uniform appearance.
- Assist the Masonry Foreman in estimating materials needed for daily tasks and ensuring work reaches the required heights.
- Operate construction lifts and equipment as needed.
- Support laborers as needed, in stocking materials, building scaffolding and site clean-up.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks of injury and property damage.
- Perform additional duties as needed, including patching and general site maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience as a Brick/Block Mason.
- Strong understanding of masonry techniques, materials, and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Team player with a strong work ethic and willingness to assist where needed.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
