What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Clerk position at LANGENSTEINS - RIVER RIDGE?
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Meat and Seafood Manager
General Purpose: The Meat Clerk is an entry level position in the meat department with room for advancement and learning, essential for ensuring the meat department is stocked, clean, and customers are happy.
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, weekend work required. Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities & Duties:
Customer Service
Inventory Control
Wrap, weight and price all meats and related products processed in the department
Price products during intake process from deliveries
Properly filet and cut fish/meat products at the request of customers
Rotate cold cuts and freezer products properly and remove out of date goods
Keep meat & seafood department clean and organized
Stock display cases
Use various meat department equipment, bailer, pallet jacks and forklifts in compliance with company safety policy
Communicate temperature problems within the cases, coolers and freezers to Meat and Seafood Manager
Conduct competitive price checks
Comply with safety policies and procedures
Contribute to the control of department expenses and energy conservation practices
Perform any other miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Meat and Seafood and/or Store Manager
Required Education / Experience:
Work and education history demonstrating stability
1 years meat department experience
Ability to effectively communicate
Basic mathematical skills required (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
Basic reading and writing
Must be a self-starter
Physical Demands
Work on tile or concrete standing for extended periods of time
Lift a maximum of 50 lbs. from 6 inches to 84 inches, overhead
Move a maximum of 50 lbs. up to 15 yards
Use maintenance and product transportation equipment
Reach forward and/or down with both hands up to 36 inches
Handle labels, signs or tags, case cutter or utility knife, grasp and handle wet, iced, cold, metal, paper, plastic products, cardboard, packaging, and debris.
Bend and Twist at the waist while reaching and holding items
Climb on ladders, racks, cases, shelving, and stairs up to three feet in height.
Balance on wet, slick, dirty, and debris-strewn floors
