Job Summary
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of fleet tractors and trailers to ensure ensure optimal equipment performance, maintain efficiency in workflow and effectively meet safety standards. This role involves working with terminal management to identify workflow needs, working with drivers to address equipment issues and working with vendors to ensure timely repair of equipment as well as accuracy in invoicing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive diagnostics, maintenance management, paperwork processing and customer service.
Duties
- Work with the Corporate Maintenance Director to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs that minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of fleet assets.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues to assess the repair needs and send equipment to appropriate vendors for repairs.
- Oversee the repairs process and work with vendors to ensure efficiency.
- Manage inventory of parts and supplies necessary for repairs and maintenance.
- Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs or services as needed, to include local tank wash vendors.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing concerns related to fleet performance or service quality.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating various types of machinery including cranes, forklift operations and tractor-trailers.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics systems and power tools used in vehicle maintenance.
- Experience in automotive diagnostics to effectively identify issues and implement solutions.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to work with a diverse team effectively.
- Strong customer service skills to ensure client satisfaction with fleet services.
- Ability to transmit technical information clearly to team members and stakeholders.
