About the Company - Langham currently has five distribution facilities across the country. The primary focus of this position will be to manage Langham’s Labor Management System (LMS); Additionally, this position will help with various other industrial engineering functions in each of our facilities, which include Life Sciences, Cold Chain, Automotive, E-comm, and Business to Business distribution. This role plays a critical part in workforce management, by maintaining our labor models, analyzing business and workforce data, and identifying opportunities for optimization. Other various industrial engineering functions include, but are not limited to, identification of projects, process design, layout optimizations. Other general outputs include capacity analytics and warehouse utilization studies. The Industrial Engineer should understand the benefits of technology and how it is changing the Supply Chain Industry. Understanding how new technology helps create an efficient operation is key. Working knowledge of robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications is ideal, with guidance provided as necessary from in-house experts. This position will work with cross-functional teams to execute projects that will improve our operations and/or provide a growth path for our clients.
About the Role
- Develops and runs reports from Labor Management System, Warehouse Management System(s), and Power-BI
- Analyzes data in Excel, including using v-lookups and pivot tables; develops PowerPoint presentations; creates and maintains dashboards
- Monitor and report on KPIs, providing insights to stakeholders to support decision-making and alignment with company strategies
- Provide site level support to the warehouse operations team for labor management and labor optimization
- Develop appropriate labor standards using engineering labor models
- General management of Labor Management System (LMS), working with LMS software vendor as necessary
- Leads detailed engineering process on operational changes taking the design from concept to creation working with both external vendors and internal stakeholders
- Prepare engineering documents to describe solution and detailed operating concepts such as throughput, storage & shipping capacity, zoning, and slotting
- Facilitate reviews with key work stream leads – including engineering peers, IT, customer experience / project management, safety, operations, and C-suite executives
- Investigate and analyze new and current technologies
- Lean principles – Knowledge and application when applicable
- Analytical based thinking. Using analytics and ROIs to help make decisions on capital expenditure, best practices, and new ideas/concepts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
- 3-5 years of experience in a Manufacturing, Warehouse, or Distribution Center setting
- 3PL experience is a plus
- MOST Certification (Preferred)
- Six Sigma Accredited courses (a Plus)
- An understanding of Labor Standards and Labor Modeling is necessary
- Proficient LMS experience and working knowledge of what the system is used for; Previous LMS experience preferred
- Excellent written, oral, or diagram form communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suites including Visio, Project, and BI
- ISO/Lean/Quality experience
- AutoCAD – Intermediate Level
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Labor Management Systems preferred
- Experience evaluating Financial Analytics (Return on Investment, Net Present Value) a plus
- Experience with Robotic, Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, Automation & Conveyor systems a plus
- AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot)/AGV (Autonomous Guided Vehicle) experience a plus
- Knowledge of Six Sigma/5S a plus
