The Langston University Science Research Institute is seeking a highly motivated and accomplished Biotechnology Research Scientist to join our innovative team and lead groundbreaking research. This role involves utilizing advanced technologies such as spectral flow cytometry and extreme-resolution mass spectrometry to drive scientific discoveries with tangible real-world impact.
Beyond your individual research contributions, you will play a pivotal role in mentoring undergraduate students, preparing and equipping them for future success in the field. Duties and Responsibilities
As a Biotechnology Research Scientist, your responsibilities will include:
Cell Culturing & Flow Cytometry: Maintaining and expanding diverse cell lines, developing protocols, troubleshooting issues, and utilizing flow cytometry to assess cell characteristics.
Mass Spectrometry & Data Analysis: Analyzing protein and metabolite profiles, ensuring equipment calibration, and using statistical software for comprehensive data interpretation and reporting.
Research & Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams, maintaining detailed laboratory records for reproducibility, and preparing reports for stakeholders.
Mentorship & Training: Developing and leading training programs for undergraduate students, evaluating performance, and providing constructive feedback to foster professional growth.

Education & Experience
Position Qualifications:
Experience Required
Education: A Ph.D. or M.S. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
Research Experience: A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in biotechnology research, with demonstrated expertise in:
Cell culturing techniques
Flow cytometry
Mass spectrometry
Statistical data analysis
Mentorship Experience: Prior experience training and mentoring undergraduate students is essential.
Experience Desired
The ideal candidate will have additional experience in:
Cutting-edge molecular biology techniques such as CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing.
High-throughput screening methods.
Advanced flow cytometry and mass spectrometry techniques beyond the required level.
Publishing in peer-reviewed journals to showcase contributions to the field.
Industry experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
Grant writing and research funding processes to support securing research opportunities.
