JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Langston University Department of Athletics is seeking applications for the position of Offensive Line Coach. Located in Langston, Oklahoma, 40 miles north of Oklahoma City, Langston University is a Historically Black College & University (HBCU), an NAIA institution and member of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). This is a full-time 12-month position.
The Offensive Line Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator with all facets of a nationally elite NAIA football intercollegiate program. Duties include: on-the-field coaching during practices and games; recruiting of top-quality student-athletes; team travel, conditioning, academics, promotional and public relations activities; collegiate summer camps; and other duties as assigned by the head coach. This position reports directly to the head coach. The Offensive Line Coach will be a positive, energetic leader who is responsible for the overall management of the Football program with student-athlete welfare as a guiding principle.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads all aspects of a competitive NAIA Football Program.
Instruct, teach and coach student-athletes during practice and competition.
Conduct video breakdown and instruction as a teaching and preparation tool.
Assist in planning practices.
Provide input to the head coach on practice and/or game strategy.
Ensure that program meets annual squad size number (currently over 100 student-athletes).
Identify, evaluate, and recruit potential team members to Langston University.
Retain current LU students as team members.
Ensure program recruiting activities adhere to the University and NAIA Policies and Procedures.
Assist with key administrative tasks, team travel, budget management and academic success of student-athletes.
Coordinate community service and Champions of Character program for the Football program.
Assist with the operation of the athletics program by serving in an as-needed basis for key tasks, such as game management, marketing or other duties as requested.
Develop a network of high school and/or college coaches that can assist in the recruiting process. Perform other duties as assigned by the position’s supervisor.
Supervise support staff (Graduate Assistants and Team Managers):
Mentor and supervise support staff.
Marketing and Fundraising efforts:
Assists with the coordination of program marketing, media and public relations.
Assists with facilitating charitable giving by donors and fundraising events.
Adheres to all National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) and Langston Athletics rules and regulations:
Responsible for managing the program in adherence to all budgetary guidelines, as well as Langston Athletics, Sooner Athletics Conference (SAC) and NAIA rules and regulations.
Attend mandatory compliance and departmental meetings as scheduled.
