Lanier Federal Credit Union is looking for a Lending Manager to oversee the Lending and Collection Department. The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of the loan process from start to finish and will have previous management experience.
Job Summary
Ensure consumer lending policies and procedures best serve the credit union and its members. Manage the day-to-day operation of the consumer loan and collection department. Ensure compliance with state and federal lending laws by working with the compliance manager. Monitor and analyze economic conditions affecting the consumer loan department and take appropriate action.
Examples of Job Responsibilities
- Ensure that consumer loan policies, procedures, services, products, and documentation meet federal and state regulations.
- Maintain good communication with consumer loan department to ensure all are up- to-date with all regulations, requirements, policies and procedures. Ensure staff training and compliance in all areas.
- Work within budgets that support the credit union’s strategic plan for the consumer loan department.
- Work with Marketing/Business Development to formulate plan of action for events, specials, etc. Monitor progress on a regular basis.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions or changing trends that may affect the credit union’s consumer loan department. Provide timely feedback that allows the credit union to react competitively.
- Maintain knowledge of competitor’s rates and terms and other trends relating to consumer lending. Construct products, rates, and terms that reflect the marketplace. Provide input and recommendations for lending interest rates.
- Responsible for maintaining and increasing LFCU loan growth on an annual basis as set forth in the annual Business Plan.
- Developing and assisting Business Development, Loan Officers and other employees in openly and actively soliciting business beneficial for LFCU.
- Monitor and coordinate the discretionary and mandatory loan interest rate changes.
- Develop, analyze, and complete monthly loan reports. Develop procedures and reporting tools for effective information to flow through the department. Maintain and balance assigned GLs on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Perform regular audits of consumer loan files to ensure quality and that lending policies are followed, and proper documentation is maintained
- Review loan approvals and denials for soundness of decisions.
- Be prepared to work with internal and external (NCUA) auditors as well as LFCU Supervisory Committee on an as needed basis.
- Define and monitor appropriate limits of authority for consumer loan personnel and ensure adequate understanding of the credit union’s loan procedures and policies. Ensure that loan personnel adhere to these policies.
- Interview loan applicants, resolve member complaints involving loan decisions or errors on their accounts, and approve or deny loan applications.
- Continue to work with members in the application process as the need arises.
- Work with Collections Department to assist, counsel and consult on delinquent loans.
- Monitor and follow up to ensure accounts are worked, documented and charged off in a timely fashion as stated in the LFCU Collections and Charge Off policies.
Job Requirements
- Knowledge of credit union products and services.
- Working knowledge of credit union policies and procedures and federal laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration and other regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of credit ratings and rating agencies and how to use ratings to assess credit worthiness.
- Skill in training and managing lending staff.
- Skill in calculating financial data.
- Skill in using computers to perform research and enter and analyze data.
- Skill in providing excellent customer service.
- Skill in organizing information while multi-tasking.

Required Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
Minimum 3 years experience in banking, consumer and/or mortgage lending.
Experience in staff supervision or management
Experience working with software systems and programs
Experience in providing customer service.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
