What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher of the Deaf or Hard of Hearing position at Lanphier High School?

LOCATION:  Lanphier High School

CONTRACT PERIOD: 180 days

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License with Deaf or Hard of Hearing endorsement
  2. Must be CPI certified or willingness to complete training

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide educational services to students who are hearing impaired ages 3 to 21
  2. Complete functional hearing assessments and written reports
  3. Participate in IEP meetings and assist the team in determining education needs related to hearing
  4. Recommend specialized materials, equipment, and technology to meet the students’ educational needs
  5. Provide training on materials, equipment, and technology to students and staff, as needed
  6. Communicate and plan with teachers about the modification of instructions to meet the students’ educational needs
  7. Adapt materials for students who are hearing impaired
  8. Participate in meetings with teachers
  9. Communicate with Coordinators
  10. Other duties as assigned
