Position Title: Graphic Designer I

Location: Lansing Church ~ 5304 Wise Rd.~ Lansing, MI

Reports to: John Jones (Department head, Sound & Media)

Status: Minimal time, 5-7 hours a week

Salary Range: Non-paid volunteer

Introduction:

Lansing Church of God in Christ is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Part-Time Graphics Designer to support the church’s visual communication needs. The Graphics Designer will be responsible for designing compelling graphics for both digital and print media, including promotional materials, social media content, sermon slides, event flyers, and more. This individual will collaborate closely with the Director of Sound & Media, live-stream specialist, and marketing teams to enhance the church's brand, ensuring all materials align with the church’s mission and visual identity.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design high-quality graphics for use across a variety of platforms, including social media, websites, printed materials, and sermon slides.

· Create visually engaging promotional materials for events, services, and church activities (e.g., flyers, posters, banners).

· Develop graphics for online platforms (social media posts, email newsletters, website content) to enhance online presence and community engagement.

· Collaborate with ministry leaders and the media team to understand design needs and bring creative concepts to life.

· Ensure all designs align with the church’s visual brand and messaging, maintaining consistency across all materials.

· Assist with the creation of custom visuals for live-streams, including on-screen graphics and slide transitions.

· Provide design support for special projects or initiatives as needed (e.g., seasonal campaigns, church events).

· Review and finalize designs for printing and digital distribution, ensuring quality and accuracy.

· Maintain an organized archive of all design files and assets for easy access and future use.

Qualifications:

· Proven experience as a graphic designer, preferably in a church or non-profit setting.

· Proficient in graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Canva, or similar programs.

· Strong creative vision with the ability to translate ideas into compelling visual designs.

· Solid understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory.

· Knowledge of current design trends, especially for digital and social media platforms.

· Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple design projects and deadlines.

· Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the media and ministry teams.

· A heart for ministry and a desire to contribute to the church’s mission through creative design.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.

· Ability to sit for long periods of time while working on design projects.

Requirements:

· Must be at least 16 years old minimum

· Must sign a church volunteer and leadership agreement

· Must be respectful, maintain integrity, and be honorable on church grounds
