Position Title: Audio Engineer II/ Live-Stream Specialist
Location: Lansing Church ~ 5304 Wise Rd.~ Lansing, MI
Reports to: John Jones (Department head, Sound & Media)
Status: Minimal time, 5-7 hours a week (Wednesday nights & Sunday mornings required)
Salary Range: $15/ per hour
Introduction:
Lansing Church of God in Christ is seeking an experienced and technically skilled Advanced Audio Engineer to manage and enhance the church’s live audio and live-streaming experience. This individual will be responsible for mixing high-quality audio during worship services and special events, as well as operating ProPresenter for seamless integration with the audio and visual production. The ideal candidate will have expertise in audio engineering, live-streaming, and ProPresenter, with a passion for ensuring both in-person and online audiences experience an exceptional worship atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate and manage the audio system during worship services, special events, and live broadcasts, ensuring professional-quality sound throughout the experience.
· Mix and adjust live audio levels in real-time, including microphones, instruments, and media content, to create a balanced and immersive sound.
· Manage the integration of ProPresenter with the live sound and video systems, ensuring smooth transitions of audio-visual content during services and broadcasts.
· Oversee the live-streaming of services, ensuring both the audio and video streams meet high-quality standards for online audiences.
· Monitor sound quality throughout services, adjusting levels and resolving issues to ensure clear and accurate sound reproduction.
· Work closely with worship leaders, musicians, and media team members to plan and execute audio setups tailored to each service or event.
· Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with audio equipment, ProPresenter, or live-streaming platforms quickly and efficiently to minimize disruptions.
· Maintain and organize all audio equipment, ensuring regular checks and proper storage of equipment when not in use.
· Collaborate with the media team to enhance the overall production experience for both in-person and virtual congregants.
· Stay current on audio engineering trends and technologies to improve the church’s sound and live-streaming capabilities.
· Upload Lyrics into ProPresenter and Planning Center, manage screens during service.
Qualifications:
· Proven experience as an Audio Engineer, preferably in a live-event or worship setting.
· Expertise in audio mixing and using advanced sound systems, including familiarity with soundboards, microphones, and amplifiers.
· Advanced proficiency in ProPresenter, including setting up and controlling multimedia presentations, lyrics, videos, and slides.
· Experience managing live-streaming platforms (e.g., YouTube, Facebook Live, Vimeo, etc.) and ensuring high-quality broadcasts.
· Strong understanding of acoustics, live sound mixing, and balancing audio levels for both in-person and online environments.
· Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly during live events.
· Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
· Ability to work well with team members, including pastors, worship leaders, musicians, and volunteers.
· Flexibility to work on weekends, evenings, and special events as required.
· A passion for ministry and a heart for creating a meaningful worship experience through audio and technology.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as needed.
· A passion for ministry and helping to create impactful media for the church community.
· Car is recommended, but having adequate transportation to church campuses
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand, sit, and move around during events.
· Ability to lift and carry audio equipment (up to 25 lbs.) when necessary.
· Ability to work at heights or on elevated platforms for sound and visual equipment setups.
Requirements:
· Must be at least 18 years old minimum
· Must be able to pass a criminal history background check and/or FBI fingerprint exam
· Must sign a church volunteer and leadership agreement
· You must wear black (darker) colored clothing while operating equipment
· Must be respectful, maintain integrity, and be honorable on church grounds
