Position Title: Media Ambassador II
Location: Lansing Church ~ 5304 Wise Rd.~ Lansing, MI
Reports to: John Jones (Department head, Sound & Media)
Status: Part time, 10-12 hours a week
Salary Range: $15 per hour
Introduction:
Lansing Church of God in Christ is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented part-time website, app, and social media editor to manage and update the church’s online presence. This individual will be responsible for maintaining and editing content on the church website, social media pages, and apps, ensuring information is current, accurate, and engaging for both church members and the broader community. The ideal candidate will have strong editing skills, a good understanding of user experience (UX), and a passion for supporting the church's mission through digital platforms. This individual would have access to all church digital systems and platforms and must have the upmost integrity and ability to manage the church’s public persona and branding.
Key Responsibilities:
· Regularly update and edit content on the church website and mobile app, including service times, event announcements, ministry updates, and sermon archives.
· Ensure that all digital content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with the church's brand and mission.
· Create and manage pages for special events, initiatives, and resources for congregation members.
· Monitor website and app functionality, working with the technical team to troubleshoot issues or bugs.
· Collaborate with ministry leaders, media team, and church staff to ensure content is reflective of ongoing services, activities, and outreach efforts.
· Optimize content for user engagement, ensuring the church’s website and app are accessible, easy to navigate, and mobile-friendly.
· Ensure that visual elements, such as images and videos, are correctly formatted and integrated into the website and app.
· Work with the church's social media and communications team to ensure consistent messaging across all digital platforms.
· Track website and app analytics to assess user engagement and recommend improvements for better functionality and user experience.
· Assist in creating and managing digital communication tools, such as newsletters or event reminders, for website/app users.
· Must provide a monthly outline of updates and quarterly schedule of authorized changes to website, app, and social media, As approved by media department leader.
Qualifications:
· Experience in website and app content management, with a strong understanding of content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Wix, or similar platforms.
· Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is preferred; familiarity with website and app editing tools and plugins.
· Strong editing and proofreading skills with an eye for detail.
· Experience in UX/UI design principles and understanding of responsive design for mobile and desktop.
· Knowledge of current digital trends and best practices for church websites and apps.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with various ministry teams and church staff.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a timely and efficient manner.
· A passion for supporting church ministry and helping to connect the congregation through digital platforms.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
· Ability to sit or stand for long periods while managing website and app content.
Requirements:
· Must be at least 21 years old minimum
· Must sign a leadership and confidentiality agreement
· Must be respectful, maintain integrity, and be honorable on church grounds
· Must keep two-factor authentication for all logins and passwords, only shared with Media department lead and pastor.
