We are looking for a Safety Specialist tasked with ensuring the well-being and security of our workplace environment in our dock operations. As a Safety Specialist, you'll be at the forefront of protecting employees, overseeing compliance with safety regulations, and implementing preventative measures to mitigate risks
Shift: 5:00pm to 1:00am
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards.
- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
- Provide safety training and education to employees.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine their causes.
- Recommend corrective actions to prevent future incidents.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Maintain records and documentation related to safety activities.
- Coordinate with other departments to address safety concerns.
- Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure safety standards are met.
- Respond to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
- Prepare and present safety reports to management.
- Lead safety committee meetings and initiatives.
- Assist in developing emergency response plans.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred.
- 3 years of experience in a safety-related role.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with safety management systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in conducting safety training sessions.
- Knowledge of safety inspection and auditing techniques.
- Physical ability to perform inspections in various environments.
- Basic understanding of first aid and emergency response procedures.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
