Lantern Government Solutions is seeking Medical Support Assistants with strong scheduling and phone customer service experience for a full-time (40 hour per week) contract opportunity at the PFC James Dunn VA Clinic in Pueblo, CO. Provide veterans scheduling and appointment coordination support in accordance with established VA processes and procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for military spouses, dependents, veterans, or anyone interested in supporting the military healthcare system in a civilian capacity.
About the Role :
Provide courteous and professional customer service to coordinate and authorize Veteran care services using VA and community care specific healthcare databases and systems.
Your daily responsibilities may include :
- Provides exceptional customer service for all patients; patient families; VA Staff, contractors, physicians, fellows, residents that represents the VA in a professional and proactive way.
- Responds accurately and timely to patient communications regarding inquiries, scheduling needs, via phone or in person inquiries.
- Coordinates and authorizes Veteran care with community providers that the VA does not supply or cannot supply timely.
- Communicates with internal medical providers on rules and regulations for VA Community Care and advises on appropriate processes.
- Verifies and updates patient demographic information as needed.
- Compares records and make appropriate updates when new health records are received into the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA).
- Documents community care consults via HealthShare Referral Manager (HSRM) and Provider Profile Management System (PPMS) systems and / or other systems as needed.
- Performs appointment scheduling, tracking, pre and post- appointments contacts as required.
- Perform general receptionist / front desk duties as requested by the specific work site.
Work Schedule :
This position is scheduled 8-hour shifts within the regular operating hours of Monday-Friday 7 : 00am-6 : 00pm for a full-time, 40 hour per week schedule.
