Lantern Government Solutions is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Appointment Services Clerk with healthcare or call center experience for a full-time (40 hour per week) contract opportunity at the Puget Sound Military Appointing Center (PSMAC) in Fife, Washington. About the Role:
The Patient Appointment Services Clerk plays a vital part of our call center team. You will be responsible for managing inbound and outbound calls, verifying beneficiary eligibility, scheduling appointments, and ensuring timely access to quality healthcare for our service members and their families. This role directly impacts patient care by assisting beneficiaries in accessing necessary medical services and supporting a wide range of administrative healthcare needs.
Your daily responsibilities may include:
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments, while ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and guidelines. Handle appointment requests for both primary and specialty care.
- Verify patient eligibility using the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and update beneficiary information as needed.
- Conduct outbound calls to schedule specialty appointments and provide reminders for preventative health, surgery, and other medical appointments.
- Communicate effectively with beneficiaries, clinic staff, and medical providers to ensure appointments are scheduled, rescheduled, or canceled per beneficiary needs.
- Maintain detailed records of all calls, including outcomes, rescheduled appointments, and referral management, within the MHS GENESIS system.
- Provide excellent customer service, utilizing standardized scripts and guidelines to ensure a positive patient experience, and resolve any issues or concerns promptly.
- Utilize MHS GENESIS secure messaging systems to send appointment information and communicate with beneficiaries in accordance with DHA and PSMHS policies.
- Ensure appointments are scheduled with consideration of access to care and appropriate travel time for patients.
- Generate and mail letters to beneficiaries regarding appointment information, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week schedule within operating hours of 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Enjoy Federal Holidays off!
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and other office software programs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate with colleagues, beneficiaries, and healthcare providers, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance to access the work site and receive a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, DoD Privacy Regulations, and PSMHS policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare administrative experience or VA experience preferred.
