Lantern Government Solutions is seeking Sterile Processing Technicians or Medical Equipment Preparers (multiple openings) with strong attention to detail and commitment to quality for a full-time (40 hour per week) contract opportunity in Loveland, Colorado. In this role, you will ensure that medical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, inspected, assembled, sterilized, and prepared for use in a variety of medical settings, including surgical specialties, clinics, and other departments requiring sterile processing services. You will play an essential role in maintaining patient safety and adhering to nationally recognized standards This is an excellent opportunity for military spouses, dependents, veterans, or anyone interested in supporting the military healthcare system in a civilian capacity.
About the Role:
Your daily responsibilities may include:
- Decontaminating and inspecting instruments from various medical areas for damage and functionality.
- Determining appropriate cleaning methods and following detailed protocols for sterilization.
- Disassembling and troubleshooting complex surgical equipment before sterilization.
- Operating sterilizer equipment (e.g., autoclaves, ultrasonic washers, hydrogen peroxide plasma sterilizers) and performing quality control tests.
- Assembling instrument sets for specialized procedures (e.g., ENT, arthroscopic, ophthalmology).
- Handling delicate micro-surgical sets with expert care.
- Conducting post-sterilization inspections and quality checks.
- Stocking sterile items with accurate sterilization and expiration information.
- Maintaining confidentiality and engaging professionally with patients and staff.
- Advising medical personnel on proper equipment use and instrument substitutions.
Work Schedule:
8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday within sterile processing service department operating hours of 7:00a - 5:30p.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments used in operating rooms and clinic settings.
- Strong understanding of medical and surgical terminology, infection control, human anatomy, and physiology.
- In-depth knowledge of sterile processing best practices, including experience with peel pouches, sterilization wraps, and containers.
- Proficient in instrument preparation for peel packs, sterilization wrapping, and tray assembly.
- Familiarity with universal precautions to prevent cross-contamination and ensure safety.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques for instrument retrieval and distribution.
- Basic understanding of microbiology, especially regarding microbial resistance to heat, chemicals, and radiation.
- Proof of immunity or negative test results for tuberculosis, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, acellular pertussis, influenza, and Hepatitis B vaccination series.
- Authorized to legally work in the United States.
- Not excluded from participation on the HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) or more years of relevant experience in similar hospital/clinic settings.
- Certified from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or similar specialized certification.
