What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outdoor School - Assistant Teacher (Carpinteria) position at Lanterns Global?
We are looking for a fun, engaging, reliable, and safe individual to assist our Head Teacher for our Farm to Table Outdoor School Enrichment Program. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced individual who loves kids, and loves everything about the outdoors, exploring, gardening, and farming (including our furry and feathered friends)! Our Farm to Table Enrichment provides experiential schooling and exploration to students between kindergarten and third grade.
- This will be multiple subjects: Math, History, English, Science, Art. We provide general homeschool support in these core subjects as well as fun, engaging monthly themes.
- Our program is run on our beautiful 3.5 acre farm property -- also incorporating local trails, beach time, gardening, active time, and recess.
- Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays, 10am-3pm (shift would be 9:30-3:15ish).

Semester Dates: Farm to Table is a year-long program, with Fall and Spring semesters:
Spring Semester ‘25 (18 weeks): January 6 – May 23
Days Off: April 7-18 (1 week allocated for make-up classes as necessary)
Qualifications:
- You have experience as a Teacher, Assistant Teacher, Camp Counselor, Childcare worker, tutor, etc., and love to make learning fun.
- You love the outdoors and perhaps have experience with outdoor education.
- You love to garden and are comfortable in a farm setting around animals (sheep, ducks, rabbits, chickens, etc). Experience in this area is a huge PLUS!
- You are patient and capable of guiding young children toward exploration.
- You are able to handle "weather" with positivity and a fun attitude!
- You are comfortable with a Porta Potty as the Farm Bathroom.
- You have 3 references who will validate your track record of being trustworthy, safe, consistent, and nurturing.
- You are available Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30am - 3:15pm, starting immediately.
Compensation: $18-20/hr. (DOE)
