Summary of Role

The Director of Scientific Training for Medical Affairs will lead the development and delivery of new hire, transitional, and continuous scientific, clinical and radiopharmaceutical learning and development programs for the Field Medical and Medical Affairs organization. This role demands a strategic thinker with robust leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a strong background in medical education and training. The Director will work closely with the Head of Medical Communications, Medical Directors and the Head of Field Medical Affairs to ensure that training programs are aligned with organizational goals and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Lead the development and delivery of comprehensive scientific, medical and radiopharmaceutical training/learning and development programs for new hires, transitioning employees, and continuous professional development within the Field Medical and Medical Affairs organization.
  • Analyze organizational needs and develop a strategic training plan to address performance and skill gaps.
  • Strategically support the Field Medical head to collaboratively perform regular field needs assessments, set annual training agendas, determine compliance monitoring priorities, and identify performance/skill gaps for Field Medical Teams.

Program Development and Delivery:

  • Develop, allocate, and manage budgets related to curriculum development, education implementation, and other training projects as assigned.
  • Support pre-conference training and data readiness from a planning and execution perspective.
  • Conduct field medical ride-alongs to maintain an understanding of real-world situations and evolving role needs.

Compliance and Analysis:

  • Support ongoing analysis and internal and external audits as required.
  • Review systems documentation of field activities to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with other departments, including R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, and Legal to ensure training programs meet the needs of the Field Medical and Medical Affairs organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall goals of the department and organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/MS in life sciences Medical Education, Health Sciences, healthcare, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPH, PhD, PharmD) preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with a focus on Medical Affairs Training/Learning and Development
  • Proven ability to lead and manage complex training programs and initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess organizational needs and develop strategic training plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across various departments.
  • Strong budget management skills and experience with curriculum development and education implementation.

Other Requirements

  • Preferred experience and knowledge of Compliance and regulatory within the medical field
  • Preferred experience in radiopharmaceuticals
  • Preferred experience in oncology or neurology
  • This position is site-based and requires a presence on-site of 3 days per week in Bedford, MA when not traveling
