Job Highlights

  • Government Relations & Advocacy: Develop and implement strategies to influence legislative and regulatory outcomes at federal, state/provincial, and local levels; Engage with policymakers, regulators, and industry groups to advocate for policies beneficial to the company; Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and political developments that could impact business operations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships: Develop and foster relationships with federal, state and local officials currently in the (14) states where LANXESS operates; Represent the company in industry forums, policy discussions, and meetings; Align advocacy efforts with corporate priorities; Organize and facilitate visits with officials and stakeholders to LANXESS sites as needed.
  • Regulatory & Policy Strategy: Provide strategic guidance on key regulatory and public policy issues affecting the company; Work closely with internal regulatory compliance, legal, and business teams to anticipate, access and manage potential risks and opportunities.
  • Corporate Reputation: Support public affairs initiatives to enhance the company's profile among policy makers and industry leaders; Develop messaging and position statements on key policy issues; Collaborate with corporate communications team members to manage government-related media and public engagements.
  • Participate in development of the Company’s public policy strategy and positions, interface with LANXESS’ senior management and business leaders on key policy issues.
  • Lobby on behalf of the Company and/or effectively manage contract lobbyists; work with Legal Counsel to ensure associated filing and compliance reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Political Science, Law or a closely related.
  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of relevant experience.
  • Assessing complex legislative, regulatory, and political landscapes across multiple jurisdictions and formulating strategic responses that align with business priorities.
  • Requires continuous monitoring of evolving policies and regulations, assessing their impact on the business and advising on proactive measures.
  • Must be adept at responding to sudden regulatory changes, political shifts, or public policy challenges that could impact operations.
  • Work with legal, compliance, corporate communications, and business leadership to integrate government affairs into broader corporate strategies.
  • Travel is required for this position. It is mostly domestic, on occasion may be international.
  • This is a HYBRID role that may either be located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania or Washington, D.C. The expectation is that the candidate will be able to be on site multiple days per week each week when not traveling.
