What are the responsibilities and job description for the 3rd Shift Supervisor position at Lapham-Hickey Steel?
Purpose/Summary:
Responsible for all facets of operation at the Little Canada facility. This includes, but is not limited to production planning, safety, quality, maintenance, shipping, and receiving of materials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the overseeing of plant personnel and operations to ensure optimum levels of quality, productivity, and adherence to our safety policies and procedures.
Schedules Operators to equipment according to their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Schedules employees to work stations to achieve on time deliveries. Including over time.
Communicates and enforces company policies on work practices and procedures.
To participate in lean manufacturing practices
Identify and eliminate any training and/or procedural deficiencies with help of internal auditors. Facilitate the additional training of employees as required and assist in disciplinary issues as needed.
Maintain the plant in order to meet or exceed all OSHA standards and local fire regulations.
Able to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication.
Wears approved personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Working Conditions:
Working conditions may consist of loud noise, vibratory tools, repetitive motions, airborne particles, fumes, and bright light. Physical requirements include continual standing, walking, lifting, twisting with periodic bending, climbing, stooping, crawling and crouching. The ability to walk, talk, listen and the use of the hands is required of the employee on a daily basis.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:
Ability to troubleshoot and perform minimal maintenance
Laser or Plasma cutting experience
Previous Supervisory experience
Some amount of Higher Education preferred
Ability to manage time and resources for the best possible outcome on a daily basis.
Ability to manage and teach employees.
Able to decipher blue prints, and use measuring tools and equipment.
Knowledge of equipment and the ability to teach employees how to use them correctly.
Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds, as well as lift and move heavier objects with the assistance of cranes, forklifts, or another employee.
Knowledge of general shop procedures and rules including safety precautions.
Ability and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and work as part of a production team.
Basic software knowledge/skills to include Microsoft Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint.
Ability to lead/facilitate large/small group meetings and discussions.
