Purpose/Summary:
The Quality Officer is a significant part of the support team of the plant. He/She will be directly reporting to the Quality/Training Supervisor and will be providing frontline support to his team and stakeholders from a quality standpoint. The Quality Officer is the source of data collected to understand the opportunities of production non-conformance's and the first line of information for inspection procedures and tools to provide a complete and successful inspection of a part or material.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform and complete PPAP, FAIR and CMM inspection requirements when necessary.
- Maintain all calibration records and tests per required schedule.
- Perform a monthly process compliance audits.
- Ensure that all reports for production rejects and material non-conformance's are received and documented.
- Assist on duties related to QMS maintenance and ISO Certification requirements as directed.
- Provide support to production in line with quality awareness, quality training and quality on-boarding.
- Provide an 8D report for rejects that will require one.
- Provide continuous improvement ideas to support quick wins and lean methodologies in the plant.
- Perform other duties as assigned by direct superior or management.
Working Conditions:
The Quality Officer will be stationed in the plant’s quality laboratory room equipped with Working conditions may consist of repetitive motions. Physical requirements include continual sitting, standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and twisting with periodic bending. The ability to walk, talk, listen and the use of the hands is required of the employee on a daily basis. Some travel might be required for work related activities.
Knowledge, Abilities, Skills:
- Knowledge of Mill Standard and specs for metals and measuring tools
- Knowledge of GD&T is needed
- Knowledge and experience on Lean Manufacturing and ISO
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications on a daily basis
- Able to solve work-related problems and recommend optimal solutions
- Skilled in Math, basic analytics and statistics
- Must be knowledgeable of blueprint reading
- Keeping current on quality issues, not limited to attending seminars or workshops
- Knowledge of general shop procedures and rules including safety and health standards
- A team-player
