Job Description:
As a Criminal Law Paralegal, you will play a key role in assisting our attorneys with all aspects of criminal defense cases. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting legal research, preparing case documents, managing case files, and maintaining strong communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel. The ideal candidate is highly organized, has a solid understanding of criminal law procedures, and is passionate about helping individuals navigate the complexities of the criminal justice system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and file legal documents, including motions, petitions, subpoenas, and discovery requests.
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and coordinating witnesses.
- Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and procedural rules relevant to criminal cases.
- Maintain and update case files, ensuring all documents are organized and compliant with legal standards.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and explain legal procedures.
- Assist attorneys in case strategy meetings, providing insights and managing case timelines.
- Prepare discovery responses and manage the production of documents.
- Coordinate hearings, depositions, and court appearances, ensuring timely compliance with deadlines.
- Manage the day-to-day administrative tasks associated with criminal defense cases, including case management and billing.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of criminal law, court procedures, and legal terminology.
- Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in legal research tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and case management software.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and external parties.
