  • Summary : Under the supervision of Director of Engineering and closely working with the Engineering team, this position shall provide engineering knowledge and guidance to support functions for customer-facing activities. The support functions include Applications Assistance, End-use Modules, Technical Whitepapers & Articles, “On-The-Spot” Technical Support, and New Product Solutions, with a final goal to identify industry trends for new and existing product enhancement opportunities.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

    • Assist LAPP North America’s New Product Development initiatives for identifying new and possible product enhancements & idea generation.
    • Provide application assistance to OEMs, MRO’s, cable retrofitters and fabricators, contractors, drive specialists, consultants, and project managers.
    • Provide product technical assistance for internal sales, district & regional managers, and product management.
    • Technical contact for Catalog products, Cross-selling, Competitor comparisons and LAPP product suggestions.
    • Analyze CRM database for potential business growth areas, Idea Generation, Express products, custom to Stage-Gate and assist in identifying customer segments & potential key accounts.
    • Support Sales team by offering product & application technical trainings to LAPP customers.
    • Supports and promotes LAPP Value Added Services model including ÖLFLEX® Connect, Industrial Communications, and additional value-added services (testing, specials, installation & maintenance, etc.)
    • Contribute to Applications Engineering database (e.g., networking, project updates, customer profile, success stories, technology-based training modules, etc.)
    • LAPP Global Documentation Team member for cable, cable glands and connectors; including assistance with Auto CAD / Solid Edge Drawings for cable assemblies
    • Reviews customer requirements to validate that capability and regulatory approvals are satisfied
    • Support Product Management team with market research & analysis involving key market verticals, end-use applications, industry trends, competitors, LAPP’s existing and possible product gaps
    • Requirements :

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred

    • 3-5 years combined engineering experience within
    • Wire and cable industry

    • Industrial environments (OEM, Machine Building, MRO, Distribution, etc.)
    • Knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, Excel, Lotus Notes, and SAP
    • Competencies :

    • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
    • Ability to work well independently coupled with an understanding of engineering specifications
    • Ability to communicate and collaborate with LAPP customers and other departments within the organization to achieve stated objectives regarding revenue, profitability, and market share.
    • Must possess excellent organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
    • Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to performance.
    • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work independently and use time efficiently.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures and maintain a professional appearance.
    • COMPENSATION : After thorough market analysis, LAPP takes many factors into consideration when determining base salary such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, etc. of the candidate. The base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $115,000 plus participation in LAPP's bonus plan.
