Job Summary
The ABE Instructional Assistant is a part-time position, including days and evenings, responsible for providing high-quality assistance, customer service, and instructional and clerical support services to students, faculty, the coordinator, and other personnel including assisting students with math, language, and basic computer skills.
Duties also include new student intake, data entry, scheduling, administering, monitoring, preparing test materials, ensuring proper environment, providing instructions, regulating all examinations, processing scores, reporting results, maintaining statistical information, and maintaining security including keeping test materials secure and confidential prior to, during, and after each test session.
Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.
Compensation: $13.33/hr.

Principal Responsibilities and Results, KSA's
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:– this position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned).
- Customer Service by completing intake with new students through scheduling appointments, paperwork completion, data entry, and pretesting.
- Exam Proctor through training, scheduling, administering, monitoring, preparing test materials, ensuring proper environment, providing instructions, regulating all examinations, processing scores, reporting results, maintaining statistical information, and maintaining security including keeping test materials secure and confidential prior to, during, and after each test session.
- Teaching Assistant through maintaining accurate data, making and returning phone calls, completing program surveys of current students and past students, making copies, and emailing.
- Outreach by communicating with core partners multiple times per week, sharing program information with local businesses, and other duties as assigned.
- Maintain appropriate composure and necessary confidentiality with regard to both past and current employee, student, and donor data; documents; issues; etc., and respect privacy needs of employees, students, donors
- Comply with highly inflexible deadlines is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position; there will be multiple occurrences of sudden, urgent task completion required
- Adapt to a variable work schedule while performing the essential functions of this position, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed
- Interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions
- Frequently move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities while performing the essential duties of this position
- Engage in multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds to perform essential position functions
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
- The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be unexpected instances of somewhat loud sounds
- Ability to effectively listen and perceive the nature of sounds and spoken words at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

Education and Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited institution
In Lieu of the required degree, teaching, training, counseling or testing experience; and demonstrated skills in interpersonal communications, customer service, records management and word processing/database may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Two years of experience working in customer service, data-entry, or a professional office setting
