HVAC and Maintenance Technician

Under general supervision performs installations, repairing and maintaining HVAC systems in a commercial setting and other general building maintenance functions(Essential function, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.  This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.)

• Inspects, tests and maintains HVAC systems in County buildings.
• Identify any HVAC system malfunctions and troubleshooting them,
• Performs installation of HVAC systems according to design specifications
• Repairs or replaces any faulty HVAC system parts.
• Performs regular preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance. 
• Ensures that HVAC systems are energy efficient and adhering to safety and environmental standards.
• Provides recommendations for system improvements, upgrades and replacement.
• Monitors and maintains adequate parts inventory.
• Performs routine maintenance tasks involving carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical and mechanical work; operates hand and power tools. 
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

High school diploma or equivalent AND minimum of two (2) years of HVAC experience related field; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.  

Knowledge and Skills:

• Knowledge of County policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of city, state and OSHA guidelines.
• Knowledge of methods, techniques and tools used in the building trades.
• Knowledge of safe work practices, principles and techniques.

• Knowledge of skills to repair, install and service various HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of technical skills in repair, installation and service of HVAC systems in commercial settings.
• Knowledge of commercial mechanical codes
• Knowledge of blueprints and electrical schematics to understand the layout and functionality of the HVAC systems.
• Skills in diagnosing HVAC problems.
• Skill in communication skills to explain complex technical details to non-technical end-users.  
• Skill in building relationships with end-users to address and resolve issues.
• Skill in time management and organizational skills to complete task on schedule, coordinate with team members, and prioritizing work orders.  

Salary : $26 - $31
